Our Perfect T-Shirt

We started Elgin to make the clothes we wanted, but struggled to find. Our first product is what we believe to be the
perfect T-Shirt.For us, this comes down to 3 things:

The Quality

Made from 100% Supima cotton, our T-Shirt is supremely soft, washes perfectly and retains its shape, fit and finish for longer.

The Fit

A year of agonising over the smallest of details has given you, what we think is, the perfect fitting T-Shirt.

The Price

Our pricing cuts out all unnecessary markups, we can give you the quality of a luxury T-Shirt at a third of the regular cost.

The Fit

We spent the best part of a year agonising over the smallest of details while developing our T-Shirt.

Every panel, stitch and hem considered, then reconsidered, with countless variations and tweaks to finally get you the perfect fit.

For us, the T-Shirt had to be fitted across the shoulders and back to give it shape, whilst loosening through the midsection for comfort.

The arms had to be semi fitted so they sat under a sweater without rucking up, but not tight.

The collar had to be wide enough to be comfortable, without being loose and compromising its shape.

And styling had to minimal, with no unnecessary details.

So that’s what we’ve made.

The Quality

Our T-Shirts are made to last and designed to be lived in.

Grown in California, spun in England, the long-staple 100% Supima Cotton we use to make our T-Shirt is stronger yet softer, more comfortable and longer lasting than regular cotton.

Only grown on 500 family owned farms, the farming practices used to produce our Supima Cotton sets environmental and ethical standards for cotton around the world. So our T-Shirts are never made at a cost to our planet.

We spin this into 150 gram fabric that's It’s light enough to wear all day, but solid enough to hold it shape wash after wash.

All the seams are twin needle stitched to make them durable against everyday wear and maintain the fit and shape we worked so hard to develop.

This exceptional raw material and our obsessive finishing keeps your T-Shirt looking its best and retaining its fit well past when most others would be languishing in landfill.

The Price

We think you should know how we price your clothes, and why they cost what they do.

Traditional premium brands sell a similar (but, in our opinion, not as good) T-Shirt for around £90.

Ours is £35.

When pricing their clothes, they have have to mark them up by between 5-7 times the cost price, to factor in expenses like their high-street stores, reseller, and wholesale margins.

As we sell directly to you, we don’t.

We cut out all the middlemen and unnecessary mark ups, while still using some of the same factories and, what we think are, finer fabrics.

Our fabrics, manufacturing and hand finish, all done in England, cost us £10.64. The transport, recyclable packing and fulfilment adds another £3.35.

We then mark this up by 2.5 times to get to £35.

So we can give you the same level of quality, fit and satisfaction at a third of the price.

No-Hassle Returns

Our returns policy is simple. You have 120 days to return any items. No questions asked and no explanations needed.
The 120 days starts from the day you receive your order. If at any point you decide that the product isn’t right for you,
just return it for for a full refund or exchange.
That's it.

Our Story

Like a great many things, the initial idea for Elgin came during a discussion, while imbibing perhaps one too many drinks, between myself, Jamie Smithson, and business partner, Ian Clifford.

Why was it so difficult and tedious to simply find the clothes we and our friends wanted?

Either they were over our budget, which was now slightly reduced due to kids, mortgages/rent and vices to afford. Or, due to an obsession with seasonality and constantly changing collections, purchasing the same item again at some point down the line, was next to impossible.

Mostly the quality just wasn’t there, and garments would wear out after a few washes. But mainly we didn’t feel connected to the brands.

So we decided to scratch our own itch, and Elgin was born.
